Unveiling Stories of Tradition: A Journey Back in Time
About this event
On the 9th day of this Lunar New Year, we are delighted to invite you to an engaging presentation that highlights the rich heritage of the Chinese-Peranakan communities, along with a rare work of art. This event will showcase their artistry, historical and cultural narratives, and spiritual traditions.
Join us as we explore the profound symbolism of gold, the delicate craft of lacquer, and the intricate motifs that characterize their artistic expressions. This session will delve into the deeply rooted human longing for family and communal flourishing, seamlessly intertwined with unique migration stories and rituals.
We are honoured to welcome Ivy Clark as our guest speaker. Her extensive training and experience in spiritual direction and grief support resonate deeply with the cultural, history, and art themes we will explore in this gathering. Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Christian theological studies and the arts, Ivy offers a profound perspective that enhances our understanding of these interconnected subjects. Furthermore, her appointment to the Dean's Council of Diversity and Multiculturalism at Vancouver Christ Church Cathedral underscores her commitment to fostering community, deepening belonging, and nurturing inclusivity within the migration narrative, as well as in arts and cultural discourse.
We invite you to arrive fifteen minutes early to enjoy a cup of aromatic organic Jasmine tea and gently settle into the cozy space as we prepare for the enriching presentation and dialogue together.
