Who built it, who lived here, and why the RCMP moved in? Was it home to squatters and how did Brock House Society win the bid to lease the building? What about the story of the original oak banisters being stolen? Who were the visionaries who worked to restore and open Brock House as a senior activity centre in 1978 … and what happened next? Jo’s presentation includes many images and anecdotes from the files not in the book. These are just some of the topics Jo Pleshakov, editor of “Thorley Park to Brock House: From Family Home to Heritage Landmark, 1912-2012”, will cover. Her presentation includes images and anecdotes from the files which are not in the book, plus information garnered from later contacts with Gilman descendants from the UK.
