No Class on May 23rd as it is Victoria Day! Practicing yoga reduces stress and pain and is effective in maintaining good physical and mental health, including increased energy, strength and mobility to name a few. This seniors’ yoga program is basic-level hatha classes and will include modifications and adjustments to help you feel comfortable and stable in your practice. All levels are welcome. Everyone can work at their level and pace. Please bring your own yoga mat to participate in this program. Cheryl's Bio Cheryl’s love of yoga and many years as a practitioner in Hatha yoga, led her to become certified as a yoga teacher. Recently retired from teaching in the dance major program at SFU’s School for the Contemporary Arts, she is delighted to be teaching yoga classes in the community. A former professional dancer and choreographer who performed and toured with several renowned Canadian dance companies, Cheryl has an extensive background in a variety of movement practices. Cheryl teaches a flow-style yoga class and brings her knowledge of injury prevention and attention to body alignment to her teaching. Her classes emphasize strength, flexibility and balance, and moving with calm and ease. In Cheryl’s classes students find a safe space in which they feel supported and empowered to adapt their individual yoga practice according to their abilities and needs.
