Around Town is a series of occasional outings to Vancouver’s cultural and historic places. Every month or so we’ll visit a different site: perhaps a museum, gallery, special collection, or heritage place. It’s a friendly way to discover some of the city’s most interesting spaces.
Il Museo, Italian Cultural Centre, 3075 Slocan Street
Angela Clarke, Director of Il Museo, will lead a tour of the museum’s current exhibition: Memories, Maps, Reflections: The Textile Journey of Bettina Matzkuhn. In this exhibition, award-winning textile artist Bettina Matzkuhn reflects on the topography of her life, linking memory and place through textile works and embroidered maps inspired by her travels. A special highlight is her recollection of Vancouver’s Commercial Drive.
Please meet Patricia at the entrance of the museum at 10:15 am (15 minutes earlier).
After the tour, Brock House members are invited to join Angela for coffee at The Osteria in the Cultural Centre. You’re also welcome to stay for lunch on your own.
