Falls Prevention and The Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for Older Adults

Cassandra will present a 20-minute talk on falls prevention based on the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines. Participants will also learn about opportunities for older adults to take part in the SuPA Mobility Study. Cassandra and a colleague will demonstrate several mobility tasks used in their lab with attendees.
The session runs for one hour, and offers BHS members a chance to learn about healthy aging research in Vancouver.
Bio: Cassandra D’Amore completed her PhD at McMaster University in 2024 and is now a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Aging, Mobility, and Cognitive Health Lab at UBC. Her research focuses on physical activity, mobility, and independence in older adults. Before graduate studies, she worked in clinical rehabilitation as a registered massage therapist and holds a degree in kinesiology.
