There aren’t too many people who live in Vancouver who haven’t seen Musqueam artist Debra Sparrow’s incredible Coast Salish designs enlivening our city. Whether they are painted on buildings or weavings hanging on walls in office lobbies or cathedrals, she is achieving her objective of blanketing the city with her art.  Debra (Thellawhatlwit) is no stranger to Brock House: our woodworkers craft her looms.  Draped in one of her robes, Debra immediately strikes a presence. She is a respected knowledge-keeper, lecturer and self-taught artist who champions reconciliation. Whatever she chooses to speak about is always a delightful surprise. Look for her designs to grace our new Vancouver Art Gallery.
