Credit card transactions are back
…and we have a new option: e-transfers!
Once again, you can pay for your BHS transactions with your credit card — and we thank you for your patience while we resolved the problem. The other good news is that you now have a brand new option: you can pay by e-transfer. Send e-transfers to:accounting@bhsociety.ca.

Brock House will be closed Dec 23 to Jan 1 for Christmas, Boxing Day and winter break.
Winter Fair donations welcome
Our curated collection of donated items is always a big draw for bargain hunters, and a great revenue generator for us. Please note we’re only accepting donations that we’re pretty sure will sell, and only in the following categories:

Jewelry

Vintage clothing

Games & Treasures (attractive and/or useful collectibles, puzzles, games, toys, etc.).

Gardening pots (one gallon size), and nice indoor plant pots

Indoor plants (please bringon Nov 22 only)
Please drop off suitable donations any day of the weekby Nov 20, except indoor plants, which we can only take onNov 22. Consult ourdonations pageto find out what is eligible, and how to drop it off.
Food Hamper donation
In Brock House, we cherish community and encourage the spirit of sharing. We will be collecting non-perishable foods to donate to Collingwood Neighborhood House Society and Kingsway Continental Building, two organizations suggested by BHS Chef Najia Elacel, who provides meals to them throughout the year. Please place your donations in the box beside the Christmas tree in the foyer. Cash donations for holiday meals for the community are also very much appreciated.

Friday Flicks
The Friday Flicks group is looking for a new convenor. Whether you are a novice or seasoned cinephile, this is your chance to dig into the seventh art and propose some great movies for members to enjoy. Help preserve the lovely tradition of bringing film lovers together on Friday afternoons. Emailanapaula@bhsociety.cato volunteer.
Computer Drop-In
If you are skilled with computers and mobile devices, consider becoming a volunteer for the Computer Drop-In program, where you will help fellow members get familiar with their devices and updates. To volunteer, email Anapaula atanapaula@bhsociety.ca. Note that the Computer Drop-In is on hold while the room formerly called the Computer Room (now called the Meeting Room) is being used by Winter Fair volunteers.
Marketing and Communications Committee
Our goal is to help build effective communication in order to raise awareness of BHS activities both internally and externally, to build relationships with our community and supporters, and to reach new audiences.

A Zoom presentation by Allan Quigley, PhD. After retiring from St. Francis Xavier and Penn State universities, Professor Quigley moved to White Rock.

Sid Katz is a scientist, educator and Professor Emeritus of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UBC. He served as Executive Director of Science World in Vancouver and Director General and CEO of the Ontario Science Centre.

Nov 22:Advanced Management of Hearing Loss, Latest Technology and Hearing Aid Solutions Lecture
This lecture will cover the latest technology and hearing aid solutions for living with hearing impairment, improving quality of life and social interaction. The speaker will share information on the latest research in hearing loss treatment and hearing aid styles.

Dance to the Music: a social afternoon
Join us and dance to the delightful tunes of theBrock House Jazz Band.They’ll be playing live to give us a special Wednesday afternoon with fellow members. This is the social afternoon for you, whether you love to dance or just want to hang out and listen to good live music.

Brock House Annual Winter Fair

It’s our last big event of 2024, it’s an important BHS fundraiser, and it’snext week!
You’ll want to come for the bargains, the live music, and the beautiful arts and crafts handmade by our own members. Do some Christmas shopping. Bring along a friend or two and show them Brock House in all its Christmas finery.
Note: A professional photographer will be onsite to capture all the action.
