Friday Flicks
The Friday Flicks group is looking for a new convenor. Whether you are a novice or seasoned cinephile, this is your chance to dig into the seventh art and propose some great movies for members to enjoy. Help preserve the lovely tradition of bringing film lovers together on Friday afternoons. Email anapaula@bhsociety.ca to volunteer.
Computer Drop-In
If you are skilled with computers and mobile devices, consider becoming a volunteer for the Computer Drop-In program, where you will help fellow members get familiar with their devices and updates. To volunteer, email Anapaula at anapaula@bhsociety.ca. Discussion with Sarah Rodgers, Theatre Director, November 12
Sarah Rodgers is the Artistic Director of United Players of Vancouver, and a well-known theatre director and actor in theatre, film, and television. She has worked for theatre companies in Vancouver and across Canada, has toured extensively throughout the US and Japan, and has received several Jessie Richardson Professional Theatre Awards and Musical Theatre Ovation awards. Some highlights of her directing career include The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Always Patsy Cline, Gas Light, The Little Mermaid, Elf, The Audience, and A Christmas in Wales. Next month she’ll be directing a production of It’s a Wonderful Life: On Air at the Jericho Arts Centre, and it’s sure to be great.
Sarah loves Vancouver’s thriving theatre community, both the high-calibre work of the larger theatres, and the cutting-edge work of our many small theatre companies.

Raise the Stage!
Theatre-lovers, we have a get-together planned for the Christmas season!
It's a Wonderful Life: On the Air
Based on the story “The Greatest Gift,” this play is set in a radio studio, complete with songs, commercials and period jingles from the 1940s era. George Bailey has given up his dreams to help others. His thoughts of suicide on Christmas Eve bring about the intervention of a guardian angel. This is a beautifully nostalgic, feel-good story which delivers a message of redemption and sacrifice for the greater good.
Members make their own reservations through the Jericho Arts Centre. To sit with the group in designated block seating, mention BHS Theatre Group when you buy your ticket. The box office will hold your tickets until payment.
With an overall voted preference for Saturday Matinees, we have selected:
Saturday, December 7, 2pm. Jericho Arts Centre. For more information, or to get on the Raise the Stage email list, contact Jennifer at jennia2000@yahoo.com.
