Current members can renew their membership for 2025 starting on Nov 1, 2024.

As we strive to maintain the quality of our programs, services, and facilities, we must address many rising costs, particularly those related to utilities and Vancouver Park Board obligations. We’re grateful for your understanding that this fee increase is absolutely necessary, and we thank you for supporting Brock House Society as we rise to meet this challenge.

Romantic Wines of the World will start on October 24 and end on Nov 21. Thursdays, 2 to 3:30 pm. Halpern Room. $150 for members; $170 for non-members. Registration required.

Monday Travel Series

DNA is not our destiny
Ready to take control of your health and learn how to unlock your potential? In two interactive lectures, Donna Webb will present recent research on ageing, epigenetics, and health. The choices we make, for example what we eat and how we move, can influence our genes, impacting our health and even our children’s futures. Discover how lifestyle can empower you to live a vibrant life well into your nineties and beyond.

UBC Golden Voices: new multilingual UBC student initiative for seniors
UBC bilingual students who speak Cantonese, Hindi, Korean, Mandarin (and more) have formed a new club, “UBC Golden Voices,” which offers programs to enhance the lives of seniors who face language barriers. In this presentation, Anisha Biswas will talk about those programs, which include interpretation services, music performances and letter-writing. If you’re interested in languages or other cultures, you’ll want to attend this lecture.

Raise the Stage Theatre Group
We meet up at local theatres to attend shows, mingle and chat. Then we might head out for drinks or a bite to eat. Our next show is the musical Jersey Boys, Saturday, Oct 12, 3 pm, at the Stanley Theatre, 2750 Granville St. Kindly note that you need to book your own seat through the theatre box office.

Dance to the Music: a social afternoon

A great opportunity to meet new people and dance to the music of the Brock House Jazz Band, who’ll play popular tunes selected just for you. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just want to hang out and listen to good live music, this is a great way to spend your Wednesday afternoon.
October 30, Wednesday, 2 to 4 pm, Whittaker Conservatory. Free for members and guests. Registration recommended. Drop-ins available.

A friendly place to be
We can all make sure that everyone who comes to Brock House feels included. If you notice someone who seems a bit lost or lonely, please take a moment to greet them. A small gesture can make a big difference in helping new members feel comfortable.
