In the world of international Popular music, Canada has never been thought of as one of the big players, but that didn't mean that we didn’t have wonderful musicians and song-writers. The world just hadn’t discovered us. But post WW2 we started to flex our musical muscles and compete on the world stage. It took us a bit of time to find our feet, but once we did, we could compete with the world’s best, and we did and we do. Canadian artists like Drake and The Weekend, now appear regularly at the top of the Billboard top 100. We’ll look at legends like Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, and Leonard Cohen and other Canadian artists who have succeeded on the world stage.
