The Brock House Big Band

The Brock House Big Band is an 18 piece swing band and their repertoire includes music from the 1930s and 1940s, the golden years of swing music. The band changes its program to match major public holidays (e.g., St.Valentine's Day, Easter, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, and the Christmas Season) and performs about sixteen times a year, delivering big band music to community centres, hospitals and seniors residences. The band practices each Tuesday and Friday mornings from September to June and most of the performances are scheduled during the weekday.
We are thrilled to feature swing dancers at most of our concerts - see below!

and Peter Dunlop have been dancing various styles of social dances for many years. They dance as a highly synchronized dance team and frequently combine several styles together in their dance routines. They enjoy dancing with the Brock House Big Band and in addition to joining dancers on the floor they perform their exciting routines at the band’s social dances. See a short sample here:

Janet Lang
and Peter Dunlop are very keen and enthusiastic swing dancers. They particularly enjoy dancing Jive and West Coast Swing. Recently they have started dancing the “Street Hustle” one of the most popular dances from the 1970s. After having performed with the “Cheek-To-Cheek” dancers at several engagements, they are very pleased to be dancing with the Brock House Big Band.
